A Carolina Hurricane Blows in a Beautiful Plan B Wedding
These grooms were planning a weekend of festivities at Topsail Beach, North Carolina, but Hurricane Dorian foiled their plans. With mandatory evacuations and closed beaches, they were forced to take a step back and create a Plan B within 48 hours, the University Club in Durham, with breath taking panoramic views of the city of Durham and Chapel Hill.
Keeping with their original beach vibe, the couple wore matching charcoal linen pants, tan vests and open collared dress shirts. We used a collection of old whisky bottles, vintage wooden cigar boxes and natural cotton for the tablescapes. Each bottle was wrapped with twine, marked with their custom monogram wax seal and included the State where the guests were from. True to their giving nature and in honor of their own three dogs, they had a table with a fundraising jar for Bahama’s Animal Rescue.
At the end of the evening, guests were invited to the Pittsburg Cookie Table, a tradition in Scott’s family. It was laden with an abundance of homemade cookies made by family members. The grooms provided Chinese takeout boxes adorned with their custom monogram for guests to fill with all the cookies they could fit for a very unique take away gift.

Not knowing much about wedding planning, we looked for some guidance to plan a destination wedding. Hobnob jumped, got to know what we wanted and quickly organized what was going to be an amazing weekend wedding at the beach...then a hurricane hit, and we had to replan everything in three days. They immediately got to work coordinating a new venue, entertainment, food, styling and activities for out-of-town guests. Many of our guests could not believe that this was "plan B" and commented that it was better than most plan A's. The working dynamic between Kris, Trish and Andrea was fantastic — it is the perfect blend of style, organization and fun. We knew we were in good hands from our first planning discussion and could not recommend them more.
